Hi. I'm Jim and I'm a wedding DJ. Not just any wedding DJ, I've been crowned Scottish Wedding DJ of the year multiple times and shortlisted every year for almost a decade. We DJs are an egotistical bunch and usually like to give you our life stories on 'about me' pages but it's not the DJ Jim show, it's your wedding and you're the most important part. If you want to know more about my background as a live musician and DJ please ask but I'm more interested in how you want me to entertain on your big day.
DJing itself isn't that difficult, I could show you how to do some very basic mixing in a couple of minutes but it's not the buttons on the equipment that are the important ones to push - it's having the skills, experience and knowledge to read the crowd and push the right buttons with everyone on the dance floor. Lazy simile aside, pushing the right buttons with the crowd only comes with years of learning on the job and a lifelong passion for all kinds of music.
As a professional DJ who is as comfortable performing in a local bowling club for a small intimate wedding, a large extravagant wedding in a Highland castle or a room in the Bahrain Crowne Plaza with over 1,000 staff for a multinational company's yearly summit - I have the musical knowledge, performing experience and professionalism to make sure that you and your guests get the music and party that they deserve.

Truly cinematic video: As well as having years of experience shooting videos on quality professional gear, I've further upgraded my rig to include gimbal stabilisation and broadcast level editing using industry leading software -Footage and stills are shot on several grand worth of Nikon full frame camera gear and is then clipped, colour graded and corrected, has LUTs and pro grade transitions added which is a fancy way of saying it will look fantastic and within a week or so you'll have some great photos and a wee video of you and your guests having a ball at night.
Up, up and away: In order to further differentiate my level of service from others, I'm now able to shoot 4k cinematic external shots of your venue using a pro drone (weather and local enforcement permitting) as a unique opening or closing shot to your video montage. As far as I'm aware I'm the only DJ in the Scotland who is currently able to offer you this.
Autism friendly service: I'm proud to support various charities that support young people with additional support needs. As someone with a teaching degree and specialism in children and teenagers with Autism and Aspergers I now offer an inclusive service if required to make sure all guests can enjoy the party. This is a tailor made process depending on you and your guest's needs but can include: social stories using official Boardmaker symbols to prepare the guest, use of ear defenders if required, Autism friendly lighting programming and me being able to communicate using some Makaton during the event. You at the heart of it all: In order to maintain the level of service and attention my clients deserve, I limit the amount of bookings I take on each year. This means not only can I give you my full attention throughout the planning process, you’ll also get the best possible performance from me on the day as I won’t be overburdened or fatigued from other bookings around it.
Live online requests: Providing I can get a clear wi-fi signal in the venue my main MacBook has a feature set up where guests can access my site from their phone or tablet and ping a request straight to me from their table, the bar or even outside when they’re having a smoke! Of course they can do the old fashioned thing and come and ask me too but it’s a nice option for those that may have to pass through a number of tables or the less mobile of your guests.
Online planning: I have a fully integrated online planning system where you can select songs for your playlist, update the timeline of events for the night itself, organise our meeting and much more. all available 24/7.
Video montage: As mentioned above, I've invested a lot in my media set up to give you some great mementos of your wedding. You can view a range of these on the media section of my site and past events.
Picture perfect: I'm not a pro photographer by any means but I have a professional camera, lenses and flash and I take some photos of your guests as they do their thing on the dance floor. I put the best shots on to your own personalised page on my website for you and your guests to view after the wedding. It's a nice souvenir and captures the parts of the night after the photographer has gone home. This is of course entirely at your discretion and if you don't wish me to do so it's not a problem.
Unparalleled sound: I've just taken delivery of an incredibly small but powerful Italian made P.A system designed by one of the world's foremost speaker manufacturers. As well as being able to adequately provide sound from 20 to well over 150 guests, the small size of the P.A. means my set up now takes up even less room, you don't have big speakers looking out of place in a nicely decorated room and it makes multiple system set ups much easier meaning that if you choose a full or half day package, this can be done at a considerably reduced price than before.
Free no obligation pre-consultation: Booking a high end DJ is something you've probably never done and there's a massive range in quality and service out there. I offer an informal no obligation meet (COVID government guidelines permitting), Skype or FaceTime so you can get a feel for whether we'd be a good fit and to provide total peace of mind that I’m you the right DJ for your event.
The personal touch: A face to face or video chat meeting at a place of your choosing closer to the wedding to discuss every detail of your entertainment and make sure you get exactly what you want.
Your event, your way: An extensive pre-event planning form to ensure that I know exactly what you've planned for the evening and you get all of the songs, dances, announcements and anything else that you might want.
Massive choice of music: 1,000's of top quality legally acquired MP3s from the 50's to the latest chart hits. If you fancy something a bit different or go for a half or full day background music package then I also have a wide range of classical, folk, soundtrack, ambient and traditional music to choose from.
Your music, my pleasure: You can add requests (or songs you don't want to hear) played at any time in the run up to it via e-mail, text, phone or at the meeting and you and your guests are encouraged to make requests on the night.
Exceptional sound quality: As well as a brand new PA that produces amazing sound quality and is always kept at a "danceable" but reasonable volume so your guests can hold a conversation I run all of my music from a set of two MacBook Pros which are the industry leading DJ laptops for sound and reliability.
Just in case...: I carry back ups of all the main components of my rig (laptop, speakers, play out system, lights, cabling, power etc...) so in the unlikely event that anything goes wrong, the party won't have to stop. Also (touch wood) I've never missed a gig in all the years I've been doing this but if I was unable to do yours for whatever reason, I am part of a network of reliable, professional DJs who would be able to fill in for me if need be.
My unique "glowing" DJ booth: This can be set to match your colour scheme or interact with the music and changed between programmes throughout the night. It offers a contemporary look to your room and it’s fairly often I receive comments from guests about how good it looks compared to what they expect a DJ set up to look like.
Modern, adaptable lighting: State of the art LED lighting for the dance floor, wall and ceiling which adds to the party atmosphere. This is modular and can cover ground all the way from understated classy low level lighting through to the nightclub experience. This is all controlled by the latest software on a dedicated laptop giving me an incredible level of control allowing me to match my lights to your colour scheme and the look you wish to create.
Announcements and speeches: As an experienced event host I can make any announcements that you or the venue may require and I also offer use of mics for any speeches you may wish to make.
Ceilidh set with calling (optional): If requested in advance I can provide a short ceilidh set for you and your guests. No previous experience is necessary as I call and demonstrate each dance for your guests beforehand.
Peace of mind for you: A professionally drafted contract which is signed online using my Your Planner system so there's no messing about posting contracts back and forth plus it's done in the browser so it's fast, reliable, safe and you don't need to download anything.
Safety for you and your guests: I carry £10 million of Public Liability Insurance.
Even more safety for you and your guests: All of my equipment is PAT tested to ensure its electrical safety. A lot of wedding venues will demand to see this and an insurance certificate so even if you decide to go with another DJ, make sure they've got legitimate PAT forms and insurance cover as it's not uncommon to get panicked brides calling on the night of their wedding because a venue hasn't let the DJ set up due to not having the relevant documentation.
And finally.. Me: My personal guarantee to you is that I will be the one and only person you deal with from this initial enquiry through to any post wedding admin I may do.
