It was a pleasure to be asked back to Kinlochard Village Hall to provide music at the wedding of Fiona and Elliot yesterday evening. When meeting with clients I get a "vibe" about the couple and, with a decent deal of accuracy, can surmise what their friends and family will be like and how the night will unfold.
The fact both of them were so upbeat, laid-back and had some awesome taste in music, "We want it to be like the Guardians of the Galaxy" is always a good statement of intent with regards to the tunes..., I knew it was going to be a fab night. Most couple's these days like to look at the reception as a party, and rightfully so. You've done all the hard work, everyone is hear and all of the formalities (barring a few of course) are out the way so let's get on the dance floor and have a ball!
The venue itself is a stunning hidden wee gem. I'll be honest, when looking for my own wedding venue I vouched for Altskeith House just down the road because the setting is so stunning. Having now been to Kinlochard Village Hall a few times I would have really gunned for this one as - distance aside - it would have been perfect. A nice blank canvas to set up and decorate as we wished. Plenty of room for seating, food and dancing and an absolutely spectacular view down the loch you can literally see from anywhere in the main building never mind the outside area. It really is a wee hidden gem but I don't think it will stay like that for long.
If you are looking for a stunning DIY venue, give this place a look, the name might not be as grand or carry the same gravitas as The Colessio or Airth Castle but it really is a special venue and what else could a special couple like Fiona and Elliot have asked for?
