Wedding review: my own!!!

Yup so it's been a wee bit quite here on in April. Not that I've been relaxing - a few excellent wedding gigs completed over the past couple of weeks and plenty of admin courtesy of us fast approaching the thick end of the wedding season have kept me busy but I've also been in the process of getting myself married too so things have been a bit upside down to say the least.

I always love reading about other peoples' weddings so whilst this isn't really a review, I do want to give props to the suppliers that made the day absolutely perfect.

Venue: Number 10 Hotel, Glasgow [ ]

I'd never even heard of this place but we went along to an open day there just over a year ago and within 5 minutes I had my credit card out ready to book it. It's a brilliant place, the food is amazing and the staff are great - I mentioned I hadn't heard of it and the fact that it isn't a really well known wedding venue makes it perfect because the staff really got to know us, even just the folk working behind the bar or reception, each time we found an excuse to go over for a meal or cocktails. Everyone was raving about the place, even my great aunt who loves a moan about anything and everything.

Photographer: Sandy Christie @ 717 Photography [ ][ ]

Sandy and I go back years and I knew there was only one choice for who I wanted to do my photos. He went way over and above what we expected from him (or would have received from any other photographer) and I really can't recommend him highly enough.

Videographer: Wedding Utopia [ ] Again, the girls were absolutely fantastic to deal with from start to finish. We barely noticed they were there all day which is exactly what we wanted. The film won't be ready for a while yet but we know it's going to look amazing - we picked them because we loved their style in the first place.

DJ: Atlantic Disco [ ] There's not many people in the DJ world that I would trust 100% to do the job for my own wedding but John and Iain are top class at what they do and were perfect on the night. I was probably a right pain in the proverbial asking if I could do this or if they'd do that but they did it all with a smile and really kept the party going.

Photobooth and dancefloor: David McPhail - I use David for my own photobooth and dancefloor bookings so I know his stuff is top quality gear (unlike a lot of places that use cheap Chinese floors and booths) I know we wouldn't need to worry about anything breaking or not working to its full potential. Really made the night and gave everyone a fun talking point later on.

I'd be hear all day talking about where we got the rings, cake (M&S Colin the Catterpillar bride and groom set btw :D ) etc... but those guys I've mentioned above are the ones that really made the day happen and I say it all the time - take care of the things people will remember like the food and entertainment and the rest of it is just icing on the cake.

For all of you who are still planning your own weddings, have fun and check these guys out (apart from John and Iain, get me to DJ for you :D ) if you're looking for quality suppliers who won't let you down.
